Lusaka, 6th December, 2022: The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has continued facilitating access to market and expanding existing international market for Zambian products in the sub region and across the world.

Recently from 9th to 13th November, 2022, the Agency in partnership with the Zambian Embassy in Angola facilitated the participation of six Zambian enterprises at the first of its kind Agriculture Fisheries and Livestock (AFL) Show in Benguela, Angola.

Following successful participation of the enterprises through exhibitions and business to business (B2Bs) meetings during the show, the companies garnered US$41.5 million worth of export deals.

The export deals were recorded in grains such as maize seed, soya beans and animal feed among others.

In addition, the Agency recorded an export lead for the supply of over 500 live Brahman bulls.

ZDA working with the Embassy is following up on both the deals and leads that were generated to ensure that they transform into actual transactions.

Commenting on the trade leads and deals recorded, ZDA Acting Director General Albert Halwampa was elated to note that the demand for Zambian products in the region is increasing and that they are competing favorably.

Mr. Halwampa said ZDA’s strategy going forward is to facilitate market access for as many companies as possible to export products and expand the exporter base in line with the aspirations of Government of increasing trade and investment for the country.

He emphasized that it is ZDA’s responsibility to promote international competitiveness of Zambian enterprises and promoting exports of Non-Traditional Export Products (NTEs) for the economic development of the country.

“The Agency ensures that exports contribute to economic growth through increased and sustainable production, job creation and competitive export market access,” he said.

“The main objective is to broaden the country’s export base and increase foreign exchange earnings by providing accurate market information, expanding Zambia’s share of the global market and positioning non-traditional exports in target markets,” he added.
