The Board of Directors of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) is elated to announce the appointment of Albert Halwampa as the New Director General of the ZDA effective 17th February 2023. Mr Halwampa joined the Agency in 2015, has risen through the ranks and was Acting Director General at the time of his appointment. He has also worked for Zambia Educational Publishing House, National Milling Corporation and Zambia Institute for Policy Analysis and Research.

Mr. Halwampa brings with him a wealth of knowledge and strategic experience in promoting trade, investment and policy development in regional and international markets. There is no doubt that his experience will bring about the desired change and contribution to the increase in trade and investments in Zambia.

He has led teams in the promotion and facilitation of trade and investment in regional and international markets. He has participated in Bilateral and Multilateral Trade Negotiations that include SADC, COMESA, COMESA-SADC-EAC Tripartite FTA, AGOA, EU, and African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He has worked over the years to develop export and investment strategies for both the public and private sectors. He led teams to the successful inaugural Business Forums that included the EU-Zambia Economic Forum, the China-Zambia Trade and Investment Forum and the US –Zambia Business Forum.

Mr. Halwampa is a Chevening Scholar and holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree, majoring in Economics from the University of Zambia and a Master of Laws (LLM) in International Commercial and Business Law with Distinction from Bangor University, United Kingdom.

The ZDA Board of Directors takes this opportunity to congratulate Halwampa on his Executive appointment and pledge to support him as he leads the Agency in achieving high levels of trade and investment in Zambia. The Board wishes him well in his well-deserved appointment and is convinced that he is the right person to lead the Agency at the right time, particularly now, given the focus on trade and investment by Government.
