The US$600M Ngonye Falls Hydroelectric Project will be Zambia’s largest run-of-river hydro and the country’s largest renewable IPP, generating 180 MW and 830 GWh/year—over 25× Western Province’s current demand, enough for 175,000 households. Construction (3–4 years) will begin in 2023, creating 3,000 jobs. Backed by APP, InfraCo Africa, and DBSA, the project is open to FDI through a majority stake in partnership with government, community, and development partners. |
