| Project Description |
The Government of the Republic of Zambia, through its Road Development Agency (RDA), proposes the construction of a new strategic highway spanning approximately 143 kilometers. The route will connect Landless Corner in Central Province to Mazabuka in Southern Province and pass through Lusaka Province via a carefully planned bypass corridor. The planned infrastructure includes a dual-lane asphalt concrete road in both directions with a total pavement width of 9 meters. The design incorporates a new bridge crossing the Kafue River, as well as associated structures including culverts, toll plazas, a weighbridge, street lighting, safety signage, and drainage systems. The bypass alignment has been deliberately selected to avoid the central urban area of Lusaka. Once completed, the project will significantly decongest the capital city, facilitate regional transport, improve trade logistics, and enhance socio-economic development in the surrounding provinces. |
