The Zambia Development Agency is Zambia’s Premier Economic Development Agency with a multifaceted mandate of promoting and facilitating trade, investment and business development in the country. The Agency is responsible for building and enhancing the country’s investment profile for increased capital inflows, capital formation, employment creation and economic development.
The Agency collaborates with various stakeholders to achieve this important mandate in order to combat the high unemployment rates, low rates of non-traditional exports (NTEs), unsustainable debt, low value addition and slow pace of economic diversification and industrialization. In line with the priority sectors and as championed in the Eighth National Development Plan (8NDP), the Government has undertaken to turn around the economic fortunes of the country leveraging on the promotion of trade and investment in order to accelerate the structural transformation of the economy to spur economic growth and job creation. In this regard, ZDA promotes the following priority sectors, as declared in the Investment, Trade and Business Development (Priority Sectors)(Declaration) Order, 2023 which includes; Manufacturing, Construction, Information and Technoloy, Energy and Water Supply. To be clear, economic activity that falls outside of the declared priority sectors will still be promoted at the event, though priority sectors will be given eminence.
The 2025 Invest in Zambia International Conference (IZIC) is scheduled to take place from the 16th – 18th July 2025 at the Mulungushi International Conference Centre, Kenneth Kaunda Wing in Lusaka. The inaugural international event, hosted formally by the President, is slated to continue annually, attracting high-level participation by 500 foreign and local investors, the local businesses, funds and philanthropies. The Conference will run for 3 days. Both days will be committed to thematic presentations, dialogue events and the exhibition.
The Conference aims to showcase Zambia as a preferred investment destination, fostering joint ventures between local and international investors. Specifically, the conference aims among, others to:
