Maamba Energy Limited (MEL) is one of Zambia\u2019s largest Independent Power Producers (IPPs) and operates Zambia\u2019s largest thermal power plant in Maamba, Sinazongwe district.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
MEL is a subsidiary of Nava Bharat (Singapore) limited which holds a majority equity stake. The balance equity is held by ZCCM Investments Holdings Plc. of the Government of the Republic of Zambia undertaking.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In 2024, MEL broke ground for the construction of a 300 megawatts (MW) Phase II thermal power which doubled power output from the company to 600MW. The project will involve the construction of two 150MW thermal power plants a total cost of USD 450 million.
