The Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue, graced by Mr. Hakainde Hichilema, President of the Republic of Zambia, and His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama of the Republic of Ghana, marked a major milestone in strengthening bilateral trade and investment cooperation between the two nations.
The dialogue, held as part of President Mahama’s visit, led to the successful conclusion of business transactions worth USD7 million between Zambian and Ghanaian fintech companies. In addition, ongoing negotiations with an estimated value of USD65 million are underway.
Collectively, the deals will create approximately 8,000 jobs across both countries.
Hosted in Lusaka, the Business Dialogue aligned with the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA)’s mandate by providing a strategic platform to position Zambia as a competitive investment and trade destination, while facilitating meaningful business‑to‑business engagements between Zambian and Ghanaian businesses.
Discussions centered on unlocking mutually beneficial opportunities that support Zambia’s industrialisation and export diversification agenda. The engagements also strengthened Zambia’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) through the promotion of market access, regional value chains, and cross‑border partnerships that advance private‑sector‑led growth.
Through its participation, the ZDA reaffirmed its commitment to investment facilitation and trade development, ensuring that high‑level policy commitments translate into concrete economic outcomes.
The Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue underscored Zambia’s dedication to economic diplomacy, private sector collaboration, and regional integration—reinforcing the country’s position as a gateway for trade and investment in Southern Africa.
