The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA), in collaboration with apexBrasil, the Embassy of Brazil in Lusaka, and Brazil’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs, hosted the Zambia – Brazil Investment and Trade Business Forum to strengthen trade and investment relations between Zambia and Brazil.

Officiating at the forum, Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry Permanent Secretary for Investment and Industrialisation Crusivia Hichikumba said the engagement came at an opportune time as the government intensifies efforts to promote trade, industrialization, and economic growth.

Mr. Hichikumba said the forum provided a platform for Brazilian and Zambian businesses to identify partnerships and investment opportunities, particularly in agriculture, tourism, manufacturing, and value addition.

He noted that joint ventures and expanded trade could generate mutual benefits for both countries.

ZDA Director General Albert Halwampa highlighted Zambia’s vast agricultural potential and described Zambia as a competitive investment destination, citing its political stability, peaceful transitions of power, youthful workforce, and improving economic conditions.

Mr. Halwampa urged Brazilian investors to explore opportunities in Zambia’s livestock and beef sectors, highlighting the country’s ambition to grow annual beef and livestock exports to USD 1 billion by expanding disease-free farming zones.

Meanwhile, Brazilian Ambassador to Zambia Arthur Nogueira reaffirmed Brazil’s commitment to supporting Zambia’s private sector, assuring local businesses of institutional support to strengthen linkages with Brazilian counterparts.

He highlighted frameworks aimed at facilitating business partnerships, technology transfer, and increased bilateral trade.

In addition, Brazil’s Secretary for Trade Promotion, Science, Technology, Innovation and Culture, Alex Giacomelli, said Brazil stands ready to share its expertise and work with Zambia to expand trade and investment cooperation.

And apexBrasil President Laudemar Muller committed the agency’s resolve to deepen economic ties with Zambia, describing the country as a shining beacon of African potential and expressing optimism about Zambia’s continued economic progress and expanded bilateral cooperation.

The forum underscores the growing Zambia–Brazil partnership and provides a platform for businesses from both countries to unlock new opportunities in trade, investment, technology transfer, and value-added production.
