The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) hosted a webinar to market various business investment opportunities to the local business community in the Eastern Province.
The Agency is earmarked to continue sensitising Zambians in various provinces on the various business opportunities, possible joint ventures and partnership opportunities throughout the year.
Speaking during the webinar on 29th April 2021, ZDA Acting Manager Investment Promotion Samson Simwanda said promoting and stimulating Local Direct Investment (LDI), re investment and enterprise development is one of ZDA’s strategies of propelling economic growth and development for wealth and employment creation especially during the time of covid 19.
Mr. Simwanda reiterated the Agency’s commitment to promoting local direct investment and the growth of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises in order to empower Zambians.
He demystified the assertion that ZDA is only inclined to supporting Foreign Direct Investments (FDIs) adding that the Agency is mandated to promote both FDI and LDI.
And speaking at during the same webinar, ZDA Investment Promotions Officer Banji Mayiya appealed to the potential investors in the Eastern Province to invest in the key priority sectors which include manufacturing, energy, agriculture and agro processing, tourism and energy sectors.
She added that the Agency provides other services such as information on markets and industries, assistance in plant site selection and project profiling, assistance in seeking business partners, arrangement of meetings with government officials, provision administrative support and consultation on Investment incentives.
Meanwhile ZDA Business Development Specialist Roselyn explained the various investment incentives that government has pronounced through the ZDA Act.
“To ice the opportunities, government has provided investment incentives which include zero percent duty rate on imported capital equipment & machinery and accelerated depreciation depending on the sector the investor invests in”, explained Ms. Musenga.
