Living in Zambia

Overview

Zambia is a peaceful and friendly country as is popularly known around the globe. The country has a plethora of activities to engage in which include: shopping from world class shopping malls, restaurants that serve different local and international cuisines and 5 star hotels.

Per the Zambia Statistical Agency, the population as of 8th September 2022 was 19.6 million. According to the Jesuit Center for Theological Reflection Basic Needs and Nutrition Basket, 2023, the cost of living for a family of five, monthly expenditure is estimated at ZMW 6, 897.

National parks and museums

Zambia has 20 National Parks and 34 game management areas, nature lovers have an opportunity to enjoy the beautiful wildlife and awesome sceneries that the country has.

Furthermore, the country has two big Museum’s in Lusaka and Livingstone, both well stocked with information on Zambia’s cultural heritage. 

Night life in Zambia

Night life in Zambia is exciting and ranges from fantastic restaurants and hotels to dine from to modern and lively night clubs and assorted events. Additionally, Zambia is a renowned peaceful country as demonstrated in the 2022 Global Peace Index where the country was ranked as the 2nd most peaceful country in Southern Africa and 5th in Africa.

Transportation network

Mobility within the country is easy via road, air, rail or inland water ways. Zambia has eight airports with paved runways. The three major airports are:  Kenneth Kaunda International Airport in Lusaka, Simon Mwansa Kapwepwe International Airport in Ndola, and Harry Mwanga Nkumbula, International Airport in Livingstone thus easing air transport into and around the country. 

Zambia’s railways covers 2,922km, roadways 67,671km, and waterways 2,250km. The road transportation is the most frequently used mode of transport.
