The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) and the Copperbelt University (CBU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the development and implementation of software solutions and online payment platforms for the Agency.

The areas of cooperation of the MoU include the development and implementation of an Online Application and Payments Portal, an Electronic Memo System and the development and implementation of a Loan Management System.

Speaking during the MoU signing ceremony on Friday April 16th  2021, ZDA Director General Mukula Makasa said the MoU between the two institutions marked a momentous undertaking as it involved two public institutions consummating a rare relationship.

Mr. Makasa observed that in most cases, public institutions usually looked out to the private sector for solutions and hardly did business with other institutions within the public sector.

He hoped that the MoU signing between the two institutions would signal to the public sector that they too, could find solutions and help other public institutions.

“The agreement we are signing today is for the development and implementation of software solutions and online payment platforms for the Agency,” Mr. Makasa said. “I want to commend CBU for the great works they are doing which contribute to mitigating revenue linkages and capital flight by providing these solutions which would otherwise have to be imported.”

He emphasized the importance of software solutions in order to make business processes more efficient for ZDA as it discharges its mandate of promoting trade, investments and enterprise development in the country.

Mr. Makasa described the collaboration with CBU as timely.

And CBU vice Chancellor Professor Naison Mumba said his institution was proud to be of relevance to other public institutions and thanked the ZDA for entrusting his institution with work for improving systems.

Professor Mumba assured ZDA that CBU would provide a quality product for them.
