The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) has intensified its investment promotion efforts targeting local investors and potential investors in the country.
ZDA has lined up a number of sensitization programmes, webinars and business fora to engage with local investors and Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) throughout the country.
Recently, the Agency hosted a webinar to sensitize the business community in Southern Province on available investment and business opportunities, investment incentives, business development support services and how they can be accessed.
Countless investment opportunities in different sectors available for local investors to venture in were unveiled including the ones that government set aside as priority sectors.
Government through the ZDA Act and other government establishments has prioritised and incentivised the manufacturing, energy, agriculture and agro processing, tourism, construction and energy sectors. The sectors were set aside because they are growth oriented and capable of creating more jobs for the citizens of Zambia.
The incentives available through the ZDA include both fiscal and non-fiscal incentives ranging from zero percent duty rates on imported capital equipment & machinery and accelerated depreciation and the investment promotion and protection agreement (IPPA) among others depending on the priority sector the investor is interested in.
In addition, the Agency provides other services such as information on markets and industries, assistance in plant site selection and project profiling, assistance in seeking business partners, arrangement of meetings with government officials, provision of administrative support and consultation on Investment incentives.
Promoting and stimulating Local Direct Investment (LDI), re investment and enterprise development is one of ZDA’s strategies of propelling economic growth and development for wealth and employment creation especially during the time of Covid 19.
Zambians in the Southern Province and the country at large are being encouraged to visit the Agency and exploit the investment opportunities the Agency is offering. Zambians are also encouraged to take advantage of the various business development support services and aftercare services that ZDA offers.
Currently, the Agency has offices in Lusaka, Chipata and Livingstone. Others can reach us through our social media pages and the website: www.zda.org.zm.
The provincial sensitisation fora started from the Eastern Province and will be rolled out to all the other provinces of the country without leaving anyone behind.
